My friend Tanya recently evaluated her own blog, and started anew with purpose not long after. She also wrote on Facebook that she missed my blogging, something someone else said a few weeks ago. So I’m going to try again. To blog more. Note the comparative “more”…not a definitive “weekly” or “daily”. Just more.
A man who has written about and read spiritual books for decades… mentioned at the end of our hour-long conversation that most of the readers of his site and of spiritual books in general are women, yet most of the writers of such books are men. He was happy to help promote a female spiritual writer, pointing out a passage in my book about paying attention to our bodies and our dreams that he thought was a distinctly woman’s voice, though he immediately acknowledged men who have written about those topics, as well.
Quote: “There are some situations where blogging can be a real form of activism; you can see that both in the way countries like Iran try to contain their bloggers, and in the way politicians in the US try to appeal to netroots. But, on the other hand, for a small time blogger like myself, a lot of the time it feels more like a hobby, even a time sink, chatting with online friends, than real activism. Should I sometimes be getting off the blog, and doing other things?”
